Purdum's Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch
Since it's almost Halloween, and since we've been too busy to do anything fun with our poor neglected children lately...we decided to take them out to the pumpkin patch to pick out some pumpkins. We actually didn't know it existed and found it by accident at the farmer's market that we go to out in Fruitland. The day didn't actually start out that great...Brian left at four in the morning to take a test in La Grande, and Ben was up all night with a fever, but we decided to get out there in the evening and let Madi run off some energy.
There were pumpkins EVERYWHERE! They had big ones, small ones, white ones, smooth ones, bumpy ones, gourd-like ones...you name it, they had it. Madison was running from one pumpkin to the next, finally proclaiming one "perfect" and then she tried to drag it out to the road herself. We managed to find one just Benni's size, one for Madi, one for Brian and one for me. Now we have a little pumpkin family to put on our porch. The only thing is...we are afraid to put them on our porch (rotten pumpkin poachers) so we have them in front of our fireplace for now. It was so fun! We'll definately end up at the pumpkin patch next year.

Cute pumpkins!! I can't wait to go to our pick-your-own patch!! Good ole Walmart!! haha
We are totally afraid to put pumpkins on our porch too. They totally got smashed one year.
P.S. I don't know if you could find a better picture than the Ben & Madi pumpkin picture. Definitely perfect for your Christmas cards!!
I love the one with Benjamin sitting in the middle of all the pumpkins. Very cute. I can't wait to let Tyler go and pick out his own pumpkin this year. I guess we should do it soon. It is October already.
What terrific Autumn fun!! I haven't been to a pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins since Emily was a preschooler. I love the pictures of the kids with the pumpkins!!
What fun memories you are creating for the kids!!
Cool pumpkins! Last year I stuck a pacifier in the pumpkin that I had on our step. (See old blog archives for details). I figured that since Grant never used any of his pacifiers that I might as well get some use out of them. As easy and lame as that was, everyone that came trick-or-treating to our door thought it was awesome and this 8 year old in our ward still refers to our house as the "baby pumpkin house". Your pumpkins are way cooler than mine, though.
I am so glad that outfit fits Benjamin in the appropriate season. That was the goal, of course, but you never know with the way kids grow. I'm just glad that he hadn't grown out of it by the time fall rolled around. He looks very cute in it. What cute kids you have!
Awww! What fun! We went to a pumpkin patch, too, and there were three semi-retarded pumpkins left in the entire field. Kind of a bummer. Yours looks like so much fun. I love the pics of Maddie sitting on the pumpkin. Congrats on the lucky seven anniversary, too!
That picture of Madi on the big pumpkin and Benjamin surrounded by pumpkins is absolutely adorable! They are so cute. It is fun to see how they are growing.
Hi Brian and Krista, I enjoyed the pumpkin patch photos--looked like a LOT of fun for all of you :-).
Madison and Benjamin have sure grown! They're both beautiful children.
Are the two playing together yet, or is Madi his substitute babysitter? Give them both a big hug for us.
Lots of love from Albuquerque
